Description
This secondary webinar, delivered by National RE Adviser Kate Christopher, covers KS3 and 4 and explores the Islamic concept of zakat. The learning activities, which support GCSE specs on Islam, could also be used at KS3 as preparation for GCSE.
The session considers the underlying meaning of zakat, as ‘purification’ of one’s wealth. Using up to date examples and teaching ideas, we learn about the work of Islamic charities and an Islamic institution, to discover how this spiritual requirement manifests as practical assistance in the world today.
Product includes: 30 minute recording of ‘Does wealth need to be purified? Zakat in Islam’ webinar session recorded in November 2018, copy of session PPT (copyright images have been removed) and associated resources.
